  • In the advanced Ground Disturbance Supervisory Level program, students learn federal and provincial legislation, industry recommended practice, buried facilities, spoil pile hazards, precautionary measures, sloping, shoring and trenching.   • Participants learn the properties of H2S, byproducts, and other hazardous gases. They are guided through all aspects of H2S protection including PPE requirements, SABA and SCBA, testing devices and placement. Participants are guided through the identification, evaluation, and control of environmental, physical and psychological hazards. This course explains what participants need to know to stay safe when encountering a workplace hazard.   • Process Safety Management focuses on addressing concerns of process risks that includes recognition of process and worker’s workplace hazards, detection, prevention and corrective measures and identifies elements that may also impact OHS concerns. Participants are guided through the identification, evaluation and control of environmental, physical and psychological hazards and recognition of process safety activities that contribute to process safety risks. There are group and individual practical application activities that include utilizing hazard assessment, corrective actions and FLRA as a part of risk management plan necessary to process safety management.   • Participants of this 3-day High Angle Basic Rescue training program learn safety basics, rescue equipment, knots, hitches and bends, anchors and rigging. They learn main, belay and rappelling systems, as well as patient care. Extensive practical exercises are required along with completing a final exam rescue scenario.   • Participants of this combined course learn everything included in the Log Book, Load Securement & Fatigue Management classes. It covers appropriate provincial & federal legislation, due diligence, adverse conditions, permits and enforcement. Included is a review of driver & carrier responsibilities, cargo securement requirements, fatigue symptoms and risks.   • Participants in the Respiratory Protection course conduct a review of the respiratory system and the hazards impacting it. They learn the value of choosing appropriate PPE, and receive a review of SABA and SCBA Systems. They also learn basic equipment maintenance, fit testing, and quality of breathing air.   • In the Scissor Lift Safety course, students learn the legislation, PPE, pre and post-trip inspections, preventative maintenance, operating strategies and skills, driving, carrying personnel, scissor lift physics, traction, vehicle limitations, load securement, loading and unloading procedures. Practical exercises include pre-trip inspection, practical driving and reversing, and load securement. Operational handling standards must be met to pass.
